Pefki Gorge

The Pefki Gorge (less commonly known as Anagyrós Gorge) is one of the most beautiful gorges in Eastern Crete, featuring stunning rock formations shaped by natural forces and lush vegetation.

The gorge is approximately 4.5 kilometers long, with an elevation difference between its entrance and exit reaching 300 meters. It begins south of the village of Pefki, near Siteia, and ends at the settlement of Aspros Potamos, 2 kilometers north of Makris Gialos. The stream in the gorge collects water from the area south of Romanati Peak (937 meters) and flows towards the Análipsis Beach.

There is a well-maintained path in the gorge, part of the European Trail E4, which follows the riverbed along most of its length. At certain points, benches have been placed for rest, and stairs make the descent smoother. The walk from Pefki to Aspros Potamos takes approximately 2 hours.
